Are you crunchy?

e natural moms have a bunch of labels like hippie, granola, and even crunchy. Well, I get asked all the time what in the world crunchy means so I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Urban Dictionary online has a definition for crunchy mama.

Crunchy Mama:

Mother who supports homebirth, breastfeeding, baby wearing, cloth diapering, co-sleeping, gentle discipline, etc. One who questions established medical authority; tends to be vegetarian and/or prepare all-organic foods. See crunchy and hippie.

So by this definition are you a crunchy mama?

or like me are you more crunchy than most but not quite there? xx

What i am loving right now:

my children - they are all so cute / clever etc in thier own unique ways (i obv am biased :)) but each day they bring me so much happiness, Gracie with how she stares into my eyes and looks SO much like my nan Ada, Eleanor with her LOVE of books and song, she even has a sense of rhythm (tho not from me!), Jack loves to ask questions and find out how things work and although when i have tea on and the girls to feed i can at times find it repetitive and tedious i hope he doesnt loose his curiosity and excitement at the little things - seeds sprouting, chickens laying eggs, making and baking x

the outdoors  - the sun is here (most days), the garden is growing and the garden is looking good, with waterbutt, wormery, fire pit (oh yeah - i can now make a fire!) and (half finished) clay oven it is my little piece of the good life x

my friends - you know who you are! things have not been easy this last year or so but you have all been there for me one or another, some of you i have known a long time and others not so much but i value each and every one of you x special thanks go to Laura and Rowena - you rock!

I am so lucky, to have these things but also be a part of an unschooling family, brestfeed both my girls, wear my girls and of course i am SO very fortunate that i do not have to work, ans that is down to my wonderful husband of almost four years - Adam x heres to the next forty years babe! x

i'm back x

hello,

I know its been a while and SO much has happened (will give a brief overview but more detail in the next few days) but this feels right once again. A friend said to me that i start my posts with an apology for not blogging often enough and i shouldnt. She was right, and it wasnt the right time for me. Pregnant with my third child and embarking on numerous projects i didnt have the time to dedicate to this space. I know feel however the time is right to start again.

Tonight marked a very special day in our house, Jack (now 5)  lost his frist tooth, marking a change in many ways. My boy is growing and things are changing, so so fast!

This is just a quick post as i am about to go and have my dinner (late i know but hey ho) but rest assured there is more to come xx

my latest project...

ok so its not a creative project but lately i have been working with Simply Kidz to create a new timetable for thier weekly sessions, plan a re-launch week to kick start the term and also plan some evening events such as a swish, pamper eve and quiz night. Its linked to the fact as a doula i will be offering classes and workshops there for expectant parents. exciting!

i know.. i know..

I have said it before and its still true - i find it hard to find time to blog. Today i was talking to R and it became clear to me i dont really make time to do anything! i mean i love my children but surely i should be able to do something for me? this is how i used to justify going to the breastfeeding workshop / clinic and supporting new and expectant mothers - i waas doing something i enjoyed but this is diffferent. i want to learn to crochet, greatly improve my knitting (after almost a year it is still very slow with mistakes ) and blog more. not asking for too much again am i? My previous post shows a couple of my creations of late and although they aint much i am suprisingly proud :) i am lucky to have so many talented mama's for friends and i would love to join in with the creatvity :)

hello x

its odd that i feel almost like a starnger here at the moment, i get onto my blogger homepage, read lots of inspiring and amazing blogs written by some incredible women and i long to be a part of this community, i (and i know i have said this before and its a feeble excuse i know) just dont feel like i have the time. deep down i know that actually ita that i dont make the time, and the more i think about it its because right now i have so many things that are so important to me and i guess this isnt on that list. blogging is something i do enjoy but as with most other things i enjoy and want to do 'for me' (ie knitting) it just gets neglected.

I now feel this has become a negative post and it wasnt meant to be that at all! so what has been hapening this end? well by baby girl turned one! - times goes by so fast and while she is crawling, pulling herself to stand, exploring everything and still enchanting us all with her toothy (she now has 7 teeth) grin.although i have been thinking about how little she still is (they dont even make shoes small enough to fit her feet!) and how much she still needs me, us x she is still breastfed, this has raised some eyebrows, especially as i am now 17 weeks pregnant. I'm not going to lie, sit here and tell you its all wonderful! its hard work, feeding has become uncorfortable and the broken sleep (as she still wakes 2-3 times a night) is harder to cope with but i wouldnt change it for the world. I am doing the best i can for both my babies and it means making some changes (i regularly go to bed either with Jack or not long after!) but i am willing to do whatever it takes to make this work for us, and although i know its not going to be easy i will not give in to pressure, i know some people think its odd that i'm still feeding and have all kinds of 'advice' to 'help' and while i know its meant in the best possible way I just need support and the occasional bit of useful help! lol x thats where my friends come in, i am so lucky to have the best bunch of friends and over the past few months especially they have really been there for us. Thanks guys!

i know its a bit of a leap (i have to do this as it comes to me i'm afraid so sorry if it doesnt read to well!) but we have chicks! we have two and for a while we also have two cockerals (so they can all huddle together and keep warm at night) they are SO cute! we LOVE having our pets they are a real part of our family. we are also looking after a friends hamster at the moment so 'tea time' really does take a while!

i have to go now, i wish i could stay a little longer but lunch needs getting x speak to you soon x
